Messiah College Welcome Week 2013

Welcome Week is Messiah College's Freshman Orientation. I illustrated a version of the campus map to go along with the theme of "Welcome to the Neighborhood." The theme inspiration came from sources such as Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood and when Jesus explains to "love your neighbor as yourself" and a man asks him "who is my neighbor?" and Jesus responds by telling the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). Other main concepts I was asked to integrate into the design were 1) Learning the physical space of campus; becoming oriented to one's new neighborhood 2) Encountering the 'other' 3) Being challenged to reach out to those who are different than yourself 4) Taking seriously Jesus' challenge for us to love our neighbors as ourselves

T-shirt design needed to work on five different colored shirts, one for Residence Life staff, one for volunteers and three for the main freshman residence houses. Below is the color palette I proposed.

Poster of the Welcome Week schedule in case students lost their booklet schedule. QR code on the poster took students to a mobile-friendly version of the Orientation schedule.
